Death Cab for Cutie Release Live Daytrotter Sessions to Prep for 'Stairs'If you're bummed that you missed Death Cab for Cutie at Coachella, perk up. The band has just released a newly recorded, live set of songs, courtesy of Daytrotter (and this way you can avoid the desert heat), according to Stereogum. The Daytrotter session draws from a mix of new and old material. The tracks "Talking Bird" and "Cath" come from Death Cab's May 13 album, Narrow Stairs, while fans will recognize "Styrofoam Plates," "Why'd You Want to Live Here," "The New Year" and "A Movie Script Ending" from the band's back catalog. Each song is available for download, and you can even read some liner notes from singer, Ben Gibbard (e.g., "['Cath']'s lyrics speak for themselves"). Of course, if you were lucky enough to be at Empire Polo Field this weekend, you might have seen Death Cab play some different new songs, including the long, haunting single, "I Will Possess Your Heart," and Narrow Stairs opener "Bixby Canyon Bridge." [Click on the image above to view our gallery of Death Cab for Cutie at Coachella.] Stairs is the group's fifth proper album, and if "Heart" is any indication, it will be a slight departure for the band. Guitarist Chris Walla has even thrown out terms like "weird," "spectacular" and "creepy" when describing it. Fans will get plenty of chances to decide for themselves, when the group embarks on a major international tour this summer. In the meantime, if you're craving more new Cab-related content, check out the viral project that's forming at IWillPossessYourHeart.com. It's sparse so far, but you can view 18 seconds of "Bixby."
